EQUITIES
Equity trading, also called stock and shares trading, is where traders hope to profit from the rises in a company’s value over time, which in turn raises the value of company stocks. Traders may hold stocks for long periods, to have a maximum benefit from the long-term fluctuations of an equity and the stock market.
A stock stands for a share in the ownership of a company, including a claim on the company’s earnings and assets. As such, stockholders are partial owners of the company. Much of the world’s biggest corporations are publicly listed, allowing investors to buy shares from a diverse range of business sectors such as technology, finance, retail, mining, entertainment, food sector, pharmaceutical and much more.
Stocks are bought and sold digitally through stock exchanges. Some of the largest stock exchanges in the world are New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Shanghai Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
